Slocum River Trip 2007 Back to Gallery Index

Mouth of the river (looking out)

Piney Island

This was our first overnight trip. We had a great time. The Slocum River is a wonderful local resource. We came in over the sandbar at Demarest Lloyd park at high tide. Went up river and anchored for the night. There were so many fish they were practically jumping in the boat. The next day we woke up a bit late. To make matters worse, I decided to brew a pot of coffee. Up anchor and down the river we went. By this time the tide had been running out for a while and we promptly hit the sandbar at the bottom of the river. I tried to push Iris over but, as you can see from the pictures, we didn't make it. Lynne and I had a nice sunny day on our own private island.   -B
