We sold Iris. Soon she will be moving to
Narragansett bay and exploring new waters with a new crew. We had lots of
fun with her and have many good memories.
We are in the process of getting a Cape Dory
28 sloop. The general idea is to increase our cruising grounds and maybe
someday..... Well, who knows where the wind will take us.
I'm sure next season will be a big learning
expierience. We've become really comfortable with our routines on Iris.
The new boat is bigger, has 2 sails, and many strings to pull.
One other obstacle we'll have to get through
is where to moor our new vessel. My mooring is in about 2' of water at low
tide. The new boat has a keel and draws about 4' of water. We are hoping
for a new deep water mooring in Padanaram. If we can't get one here for
next season we'll have to look at some other options.

It's been a busy year so far. We've been out
in the bay a lot. I haven't been quite so good at updating this web site.
I am trying to learn some new web design software so at some point I'll
get better at this and keep this thing updated.
We had our annual Buzzard's Bay catboat
regatta a few weeks back. It was lots of fun seeing so many catboats
around the harbor. We took some pictures and I'll be adding those to the
gallery.
We were out yesterday and it was quite a busy
day. We decided to go out to the islands. Wind was dead calm so we
motored. As usual we found ourselves in the middle of some interesting
events. It was the New York Yacht club's annual Queen's Cup regatta
(152nd). Wow! lots of big boats coming at us. We were sailing along with
the 162' Eleonora for a bit. We also saw the Nantucket light ship. We were
informed that she was recently done over and someone now lives on her.
Anyway, I don't think we got in the way too much and it was fun seeing all
of these big boats around. It was also Concordia's 70th anniversary
reunion. There were Concordia Yawls everywhere. It was really nice to see
so many classic boats around. Naturally I was oblivious to all this
activity before leaving the mooring so I didn't bring the camera!
In other news- We have been thinking about
expanding our cruising grounds. We started looking around at different
boats last year as we felt we needed something a bit larger. After a lot
of searching we've rounded it down to a few choices. After 5yrs of hard
work and fun sailing we are putting our beloved Iris up for sale.
